Grandma Violet's Beans

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 pound bacon chopped
  • 1 pound hamburger
  • 1 large Onion chopped
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar
  • 1 15oz canned kidney beans drained, reserving liquid
  • 1 15oz can butter beans drained, reserving liquid
  • 1 16oz can Pork & Beans

Method
 

  1. Brown the bacon in a large skillet. Add the hamburger and onion and brown, breaking the hamburger into small bits.
  2. When hamburger is browned, pour off excess fat. Add the ketchup, brown sugar vinegar and Pork & Beans. Stir to combine.
  3. Add the butter beans and kidney beans and stir to mix well. Use reserved liquid from drained beans to keep mixture from sticking.
  4. Bring to a boil, then cover reducing heat to simmer and cook for 20-30 minutes. Add more liquid from drained beans if needed.
